Specs are important—but they aren’t everything. The most important thing is that the hardware and software work well together. One can’t survive without the other. Still, this round is purely about which tablet has the better specs. I’ll get into the iOS vs. Honeycomb tomorrow.
Here are the most important iPad 2 Specs:
Screen – 1024 x 768 IPS Display
Chip – 1GHz dual-core Apple A5 custom-designed
Ram – 512 MB
Cameras – Back camera: Less than 1 megapixel capable of recording HD (720p) Front camera: VGA
Here are the most important Tab 10.1 Specs:
Screen – 1280 x 800 IPS Display
Chip – NVidia Tegra 2 1 GHz
Ram – 1 GB
Cameras – Back camera: 3-megapixel capable of recording HD (720p) Front camera 2-megapixel
The iPad 2 has a better chip with the A5—but in my opinion it isn’t much faster than the Tegra 2 (for normal tasks). Overall I’d give this round to the Tab 10.1 one because the better screen, more ram, and better cameras. Also, it has better speakers; they make the iPad 2 sound inadequate. Come back tomorrow for ”Round 3, iOS vs. Honeycomb”.
Score: Tab 10.1 (1) iPad 2 (1)
