Minor Spoilers Ahead
Jormungand comes to an end next week, but fear not, a second season was green-lit before the first episode even hit Japanese airwaves. Actually, that’s one reason I was drawn to the show, anything that gets two confirmed seasons out of the gate must be good, right? Eh, let’s get to the review.
“Hill of Ruin phase.1” sends Valmet off on another mission to avenge her fallen comrades. She’s hell bent on revenge, so she cuts her hair and runs away in the middle of the night. But to her surprise, Jonah tags along.
All of this puts Koko on edge and leads to one of the most shocking scenes in the series to date. When the mafia tries to give her cocaine instead of money, Koko shoots the leader in the head – at point-blank range!
This shocked the hell out of me; I thought she was only the puppet master. But now it seems that she isn’t against getting her hands dirty. Although, I’m not sure she would have done that if Jonah were there.
The other thing I loved about this episode was the fact that Koko’s team is finally being challenged. Dominic and his crew are obviously more dangerous than all their earlier foes. And this time it looks like they aren’t going to make it out of this one unscathed. (Rating: 9/10)
