Geek Revolt

Sword Art Online Episode 5-6 Micro-Review

Minor Spoilers Ahead

This arc has Kirito and Asuna solving a murder mystery. It’s a nice break from the earlier episodes. While it could be looked at as another side story, calling it one just seems wrong. These are easily the best two episodes of SAO so far.

Without going into too much detail, the reason I found these two episodes enjoyable were thanks to their many twists and turns. Just when you think you’ve figured it all out – you’re hit with an unexpected twist. SAO has already proven it can bring the action, but it’s nice to know it’s also packing tons of substance. (Rating: 9.5/10)

  • You mirrored my thoughts exactly! After watching these last 2 episodes, a friend and I talked about how this arc has much better pacing and a more faithful interpretation of the original story than the past few episodes.

Well, there are no more side-stories, so I think you can expect things to get a lot more interesting and action-packed from here on out. Here’s to next week!
