Destructoid reports that a new TWEWY site has popped up in Japan, counting down to…something. An announcement is due next week, but impatient fans (like myself), can advance their computer’s clock forward a few days to uncover the city in the image, as well as switch up the music. With Neku and the gang’s show in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, many folks are hoping this announcement is for a sequel to the cult classic.
The World Ends With You is my favorite game of all time, period, but I’m still a little leery about a new game. Once you had the formula down for the combat system, the game was exciting and showed that another sequel isn’t always the way to go. When you couple that with a great story and plenty to do after the main game, it doesn’t seem like there’s much to improve on. It isn’t that I don’t believe that Square Enix can’t pull it off, but past experiences with sequels (in general) leave me a bit worried. Still, I’m excited to see what the announcement is, and I’ll still cheer if it is a sequel or a spin-off.
Just not something social. PLEASE not something social. Now go listen to that beat.
