Profound Sadness: EX Troopers Not Coming to the West For Now

That neat-looking Lost Planet spin-off, EX Troopers, has had a lot of western fans buzzing about the upcoming Japanese title. However, that slick comic-style artwork  may not be arriving here anytime soon, as Nintendo Life reports that Capcom USA has no current plans to bring the game stateside.

Christian Svensson, Capcom USA’s Senior Vice-President, made the statement in Capcom Unity’s “Ask Capcom” forum, when talking to a fan about possibly converting MML3 into a new entry into the series. Svensson stated that there were too many sub-series already, and announced the lack of stateside release for EX in response to the fan’s use of the game as an example. As quoted,

“No because EX Troopers isn’t part of the LP series officially (thus the difference in name) nor are there plans to bring it Westward at this time.”

Before we get crazy, we should focus on the key words, “…at this time.” Numerous games have been released on our side after statements such as these, even if they were a while down the road. Capcom did file a US trademark for the game back late last year as well, so the possibility of the game dropping on our shores is sill slightly feasible. All we can do is spectate at this point.

EX Troopers is still on track for its Japanese release of November 22, arriving on the 3DS and PlayStation 3.
