Piranha Games announced that its most ambitious project to date, MechWarrior Online, is finally heading towards Open Beta. For those of you who’ve waited for this game since its debut, like I have, this is great news as it means now you’ll have an opportunity to test the game before it goes official. Unfortunately, this is where the good news ends.
Open Beta was originally slated for an October 16th release, though sadly it seems like the date has been pushed back. According to Piranha Games from their newsletter report:
“We have decided to push Open Beta back. We agree that the game’s current state of stability is not allowing us to get the latest experience across to new and veteran players alike. This is a short push back on the date and will depend on the stability and playability of the build.”
Well, if it’s for the sake of improving the game then I guess it’s not all that bad. If we’ve survived waiting this long then surely we can wait a tad bit longer. And I doubt it’ll be a while considering that the game has already underwent an extensive Closed Beta phase. I’d imagine the delay to be quite short, but here’s me crossing my fingers.
With all that said, however, once Open Beta does get released you can be sure at least one of us here at Geek Revolt will be ready to bring you coverage.
